H and W were married in 1970. Their only child was born in 1973. The parties separated in May of that year. W brought a libel for divorce that September. A month later, the parties agreed to custody, support, and visitation. H did not support his wife and child from the time of separation until the temporary decree. He made payments under the decree until 1975. H did not want a girl, and if the child were to be a girl, he would put it up for adoption. In addition, H did not maintain steady work. When the girl was born, H became attached to it and made visitation and support payments. H claims he loves his wife and does not want a divorce. The court transferred without ruling whether a divorce should be granted. At argument, it was determined that H had stopped making support payments and had gone to Nevada in June 1975. H still did not want a divorce.
