Facts
Betz (D) was indicted in Massachusetts for the nonsupport of an illegitimate child born there in 1953. D was a citizen of New Hampshire. The mother claimed that she was impregnated by D in New Hampshire before she moved to Boston. D denied that he was the father. Paternity could not be established in New Hampshire because the one-year statute of limitations had expired. D had never been to Massachusetts. D opposed extradition by a writ of habeas corpus. The writ was denied, and P appealed.
