Nature Of The Case
This section contains the nature of the case and procedural background.
Facts
Daughter (D) filed a petition seeking support from her father (F). D refused to enter an inpatient facility for psychiatric evaluation. F then locked her out of her home and prohibited reentry despite her requests. The trial court found that D was not emancipated and directed F to pay $142 per week for D's support. F filed objections. The sad story starts when D's mother filed a family offense petition against D. As part of the resolution of that problem, D agreed to be placed on probation for one year and was to be scheduled for clinical drug, and alcohol evaluations. Eventually, things deteriorated at the home wherein no one ever talked to D anymore. D refused to go for a psychiatric evaluation even though the probation department had not recommended one. When she returned home that evening the doors were locked, and the locks had been changed. F claims that her refusal to obey her parental direction means that she had forfeited her claim for support.
