Facts
P filed this action against D asserting the right to provide its internet-based document services to consumers in North Carolina. D filed a Counterclaim asserting that D's document services constitute the practice of law as defined in Chapter 84 of the North Carolina General Statutes. P provides an online service to North Carolina consumers access that involves generating legal documents based on the user’s responses to questions. D contends that P's services constitute the unauthorized practice of law. P and D settled their suits by consent and seek the court’s approval.
