Nature Of The Case

This section contains the nature of the case and procedural background.

Facts

P had been fully and generously supported by her father until April of 1970. P was allowed to attend college away from home and after living in the dorms for a while, she moved in with a female classmate in an off-campus apartment. Upon learning of this deception, F cut off all support. P failed to obey her father and elected to continue on her path of self-determination. P then even had the intestinal fortitude to sue F for continued support. The family court under a judge Midonick ordered support to be paid as well as college tuition. F failed to obey that order and contempt was ordered pending appeal. The appeals court modified the trial court's order and reversed the part requiring F to pay support to P's 21st birthday.
