Facts
Sanchez’s (P) son was killed by Schindler (D) when D’s pickup hit their son’s motorcycle. The jury found for P on the liability issues. On the damages issue, the jury found that P sustained no pecuniary loss but awarded $102,500 for the mental anguish suffered by P. The trial court disregarded the jury’s answers to the special issues on mental anguish. The court of appeals affirmed.
