Facts

Cameron (D) interrupted a card game. D overturned the table and attacked one of the players. D then attacked arriving police and had to be restrained. Charges of assault, illegal weapon possession, and resisting arrest were filed. D claimed that she was drunk. The court refused to allow her to raise the defense of voluntary intoxication and found her guilty. A state court of appeals reversed, and the state supreme court granted review.
