Facts
This was a suit by Ps over the gender discrimination against girls shown by D. Ps alleged that they have been excluded from interscholastic athletic programs and have received unequal treatment and benefits from the programs. They contend that this constituted gender discrimination in violation of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, is against Equal Protection under the 14th Amendment, and a violation of Michigan state laws. They allege a large number of discriminatory acts. P filed a motion before the court for class certification; all present and future female students enrolled in MHSAA member schools who participate in interscholastic athletics or who are deterred from participating in interscholastic athletics because of D's discriminatory conduct.
