Facts
DeJames (P) sued Magnificence (D) for injuries suffered while working aboard a vessel. P alleges that certain conversion work done by Hitachi was defective. Hitachi is a Japanese company, and the work was performed in Japan. Hitachi moved to dismiss for lack of personam jurisdiction in New Jersey. It was found that Hitachi lacked contacts with New Jersey and P tried to invoke a national contact standard.
