Laing v. Laing

741 P.2d 649 (1987)

Facts

Kenneth (H) and Marla (W) were married in 1964. When first married, W lived in her own furnished house with an equity of $15,000 and had benefits from the death of her first husband that amounted to $10,000 and a car worth $500. H had no substantial assets at the time of marriage and was employed all but a few months during the marriage. W was 49 on divorce and earned $18,750 per year. H earned approximately $60,000 per year. The trial court awarded H his nonvested pension with a present value of $27,000 and awarded W offsetting assets. H appealed this part of the decision.
