Facts

Defendant Locks carried out an elaborate scheme to steal goods from various retail stores. Locks would develop a relationship with a young woman and reveal his fraudulent plan to win at a local numbers game because of inside information. The winnings would be generated by numbers tickets acquired with the products from the store after conversion to cash proceeds. He would convince the young woman to buy him expensive store merchandise and promise to cover the check and provide the victim with profit after he won at the numbers game. The defendant was charged and convicted with grand larceny by the stores he fraudulently conned his victims into purchasing merchandise from.
