Facts
Iowa was admitted into the Union in 1846, and its western boundary was the middle of the main channel of the Missouri River. Nebraska was admitted in 1867, and its eastern boundary was the middle of the channel of the Missouri River. The river significantly altered the river banks; erosion on one side and accretion on the other side.
