Facts

P is a corporation based in the state of Washington. P sells office supplies and related goods. P alleges that D employees made a series of purchases for which P has not been paid. P filed suit in the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, California, to recover $17,642.54, plus interest at an annual rate of 18.00% from and after November 10, 2005. P asserted breach of contract; open book and account; account stated; conversion; quantum merit; and unjust enrichment. D did not appear. P moved for a default judgment, which the California court granted on May 26, 2009. Judgment was entered against D in the amount of $30,542.15. P filed a petition in the Jackson County Circuit Court, seeking to register the California judgment pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 74.14. D filed a motion to set aside or vacate the registration of the foreign judgment, which the circuit court denied on October 8, 2009. The court ruled for P and D appealed.
