H and W were divorced, and H was ordered to pay W $200 per month alimony until W remarried. That occurred in 1946. By 1972, H had retired from the active practice of medicine, and this had reduced his earnings and affected his ability to pay alimony. H petitioned the court for a reduction of alimony. W's income had also been reduced in 1975 by mandatory retirement. The trial court concluded that there were no changed circumstances and refused to modify the alimony decree. H appealed.
