Facts
Utter (D) was in California and purchased tickets to Europe for himself and his intended victim. D planned to murder, bought the murder weapon in California, and induced his victim to go to Europe with him. D and Wilson traveled to Europe, and he killed her. D then returned to California with Wilson's jewelry. D was charged with murder and robbery in California. California statues were whole or part statutes, giving it jurisdiction for a part execution of intent. D was convicted and appealed.
