People v. Wilson
182 N.E. 2d 203 (1962)
Nature Of The Case
This section contains the nature of the case and procedural background.
Facts
Wilson (D) and Washington were convicted for the unlawful sale of narcotics D asserts that his trial was unfair in that the State failed to produce Ruth Killingsworth, an informer for the Federal Bureau of Narcotics. In response to D's questions on the whereabouts of the witness, the State gave her address as the local government office. D moved for an order directing that the witness be produced for trial. The prosecution resisted that order and the court reserved its ruling until the evidence had been heard. At trial, the government testified that they had helped the witness leave the jurisdiction and financed that move. D's motion to produce was renewed, and the court denied it. D wanted the witness to prove entrapment. D was convicted and appealed.
