Nature Of The Case
This section contains the nature of the case and procedural background.
Facts
Sigma Chemical (P) employed Harris (D) as a purchasing agent. D's job consisted of matching the right chemical supplier with a chemical product sold by P. D signed a non-compete agreement, when he went to work for P, that he would not work for a competitor for two years after leaving P, and would not disclose any confidential information acquired from P even after the two year noncompete period expired. D quit his job with P and obtained work at a competitor and helped his new employer find new sources of various chemicals. P sued for breach of the employment contract. P sought a permanent injunction against D from working for his new employer as per the terms of the contract.
