Nature Of The Case
This section contains the nature of the case and procedural background.
Facts
The Jaycees (D) had a policy of discriminating against women in their national charter. Women were denied certain rights afforded to men and really had no participation in the leadership of the organization. Two chapters in Minneapolis and St. Paul modified their own operations to afford women equal rights, and the national organization started procedures to revoke their charters. P sued under a statute that brought into issue whether D was a place of public accommodation.
