Vlandis v. Kline

412 U.S. 441 (1973)

Facts

Two students sued Connecticut University over its tuition policy that subjected all non-residents students to a higher tuition rate than in-state students. Residency was based on a one-year residence prior to registration for unmarried students and married students; residency was established at the time of registration. A student's residency status continued for the duration of the attendance at the University. The District Court held in favor of the students. The U.S. Supreme Court affirmed.
