(Computer) An individual involved with the unauthorized access of computer systems by various means. One who gains unauthorized, usually non-fraudulent access to another's computer system. The term 'hackers' has also been understood to encompass both those who obtain unauthorized access to computer systems and those who simply enjoy using computers and experimenting with their capabilities as 'innocent' hobbyists.
